This summer wasn’t just about staring at dashboards

I took a summer break from the newsletter. Quite frankly, MAU Vegas was such a force of nature that I needed time to take it all in. The data, the post-show surveys, but most importantly, go back to the basics - conversations.
So, I spent months slowing down — on the Croisette, in Berlin cafés, in random catch-ups — and actually listening, talking with marketers, founders, product leads, creatives and solution providers. Those discussions gave me a perspective no dashboard ever could.
A few moments that stood out:
- A Women in Mobile lunch hosted in NYC Sarah Neill, Nicole Weiss, Matilda Lindström, Kyla Dodd, Christine Nguyen, and Nicole Peck
- The inspirational and creative chaos of Cannes Lions and many thanks to Google, Verve Group, tvScientific for welcoming me to their specialty spaces and introducing me to the The Women in Programmatic Network.
- App Growth Summit Berlin where every chat sparked a new “aha” moment - many thanks to Louis Tanguay for welcoming me to this great event and the opportunity to personally meet some of our speakers at MAU
- I took a chance and emailed the 100 people who bought a vendor pass to understand their experience, their mindset and their interest level for becoming a sponsor in the future. GREAT insights that will lead to modifications for these passes and new sponsorship opportunities. Thank you to all who took a call with me.
- Also, special thanks to Ashley Roina who's taken a dozen calls with attendees and sponsors to understand what you're looking for from our mobile app.
Wrapping it up. Data gives you the “what,” but people give you the “why.” For all of us, growth isn’t only about speed. It’s about pausing long enough to ask the right questions before moving forward.
And now for ICYMI: Evelin Herrera is MAU’s First Global Ambassador!
She’s been part of the MAU family for years, most recently on our Strategic Council, and now she’s helping us bring the spirit of MAU to cities around the world. Her role is simple but powerful: creating spaces for the kind of connections that make this community special.
This month, Eve’s already wrapped an event in Berlin last night and next stops and RSVP links are below:
London App Founders Dinner → RSVP | Sep 16
Barcelona Sunset Party → RSVP | Sep 26
I can’t say this enough, but MAU was a record-breaking year and a lot of that is due to increases in attendance from EMEA and APAC. Eve lives on the road. I'll never know how she does it, but as our new ambassador she’s spreading the MAU Vegas message globally to founders, practitioners and solution providers. Here's a link to the official post.
WHAT’S NEXT
We’re begun sharing snippets of content from our conference program on social. If MAU empowers the global app ecosystem, why not share the wealth? Short, informative videos from leaders that we plan to release all year. Here are links (link 1 and link 2) to the first two.
In October, we’re rolling out a fresh website — cleaner, bolder, and shaped by the feedback you’ve given us.
Looking ahead to MAU Vegas 2026, we’re adding new summits (growth + gaming), more founder-first programming, and new content formats. I'm very excited to share that we've worked with our amazing contractor, The Expo Group, who is going to work hard to get the expo hall open 1 day early (Tuesday at 2pm). Last year 80% of badges were picked up on Tuesday by 1pm, so we're bulking up our Tuesday offering. Registration opens in January, but you can always join our mailing list to get updates. Don’t worry….we don’t have plans to blast email you anytime soon.
TICKET TO GROWTH
There have been countless conversations and ideas. The team is excited to spend the next few months bringing them to life. The theme running through it all is to offer more ways to learn, connect, and grow. Heading into fall, I feel like I’ve got a notebook full of ideas and a clear sense of direction. Now it’s time to put it all into action.
For our sponsors, thanks to so many of you who've already signed with us for 2026 or taken calls with Erin Saunders. We're here to work with you and help create options that resonate with you and help you meet your goals. Wondering about 2025 stats? Check out a recap here. My favorite thing to see is the depth of responsibilities we have in the attendees at MAU. If you thought MAU only has people focused on UA or Growth, these graphs change that narrative.
Thanks for sticking with me.
Sincerely,
Angela Harar
