Our Values

Energy Efficiency:

At MGM Resorts, we recognize the value of making environmentally sustainable business decisions during Design & Development. This is no truer than for energy efficiencies. Between 2009 and 2019, we constructed more than 20 million square feet of new developments certified to LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Gold or Platinum levels. Each property built to this standard incorporated advanced design and equipment choices to reduce long-term energy demand.

With lighting being one of the greatest consumers of electricity across our resorts and entertainment venues, efficient lighting and electrical equipment are a core focus in our approach to energy management. We have installed over 1.4 million Light Emitting Diodes (LED) in one of America’s largest lighting retrofit projects.

Since 2007, MGM Resorts has invested more than $68 million in energy efficiency projects. These investments have driven material progress towards our energy and climate goals. America’s largest contiguous rooftop solar array sits atop the convention center at Mandalay Bay

Food Waste:

The preparation and service of food is a key component of the hospitality industry. Preventing food waste requires careful planning and when done successfully, can contribute to reducing carbon footprint and also aid in combatting food insecurity. As a core aspect of its overall material diversion program, MGM Resorts has a highly respected food waste diversion program, with source reduction at the strategy’s center and thousands of tons of food scraps to animals, compostables to compost and grease to biofuel.

MGM Resorts combats food waste and food insecurity by collecting and preserving untouched food from resorts and providing it to those in need. Since 2016, MGM Resorts has donated more than 3.7 million meals into the community. From 2007 to 2022, across 13 Las Vegas properties, MGM Resorts diverted nearly over 300,000 tons of food waste from landfills.

We are an organization that embraces creativity, diversity, and inclusion for our employee, our customers, and our business partners. MAU VEGAS is proud to work with partners such as MGM who also shares our values and goals.

MGM DEIB Commitment:

MGM’s commitment to diversity and inclusion is formally implemented through three strategic priorities: People, Culture and Suppliers & Customers. In terms of People, our strategy begins with attracting, developing, and retaining diverse talent and ensuring that talent has equal access to leadership opportunities. MGM does that by continuously working to embed diversity and inclusion across our HR practices, from onboarding, to mentoring, to succession planning and promotion. We fundamentally believe that harnessing the power of diversity leads to breakthrough thinking and innovation in our company. This belief extends to our supplier and customer base as well.

By embedding diversity and inclusion into our business strategies, we are more directly able to attract diverse segments of society to our resorts and entertainment offerings. And, by actively seeking to buy from and offer mentorship to diverse suppliers, we not only ensure a more resilient supply chain but support the economic development of the very communities in which we operate.
